In a dynamic block i have a line of attribute text that is center justified. so there is an insertion snap in the middle and a nod snap on the left end of the text. i would like to make an object stretch the same distance as the distance between those two object snaps. i have not been able to figure it out but this is only my second day using 2006. hoping to save myself some time if someone else knew.

just two lines i want to stretch the same distance as the text when i type in text. it may not be possible, but since there are two object snaps for reference i was thinking maybe it was.

i think i have attached the file to this post

Hi, this is what I use, (see attached) I made the text left justified and as the text gets longer I stretch the line to match. Then if it is not centered the way I like I then have to move it. On a different note, we use our north arrow as an xref that way if the buildings orientation changes it is just one north arrow that has to be updated. I don't know how many times that we have plotted our drawings and some had the north arrow pointed the wrong directions that is why we went to xref. Just a suggestion. Hope this helps.

I don't think there's a way to get a Dynamic Block to stretch automatically based on a text entity. All the blocks that I have worked on have text that is usually left justified with a line that has to be stretched manually to the right, according to the length of the text. It's a minor inconvenience, but really, how much easier do things need to be?

I know you can do it using LISP routines, but I do not know anything about LISP.

And maybe it's a wish list item for the next version of CAD?

Thanks for all the responses. I think it is something for the wish list but I cant complain. It is still much better than life without dynamic blocks and all the other improvements in 2006.
