column height with sloping beams

I am new to revit and would to have a column with a beam attached to it.

I have come from ADT 2006 and there i could create 2 columns, then draw a beam from column to column. I could then modify the column height (from the properties dialogue) and the column would increase in height brining the beam with it. So because i have 2 columns at different heights the structure would slope.

I am not sure how to repeat the same procedure in revit.

Could anyone help me out on this one?
