Hi Smart people
In the last two month I have invest a large amount of money for my systems. and as British says "I am not rich to by cheep", I have spent on good components.
Make a story short, number one PCI E video card and mother boards , creating a huge problem for me, but more important is the second issue which is the Revit software specially in regard to screen and pointing device ,"at least this is what ,I have concluded"
Every once in a while, andI it cloud be 48 hours or 20 Min., when I click on the screen to do some thing such as move, delete ,copy,........ Revit crashes...........It is bad very bad,,,,I am losing big amount of work every time .........
I need help, suggestions, and precedents,to see where this is come from.
I have to add that any other application from Autocad 2006, desk top ,or others do not behave as such.
Sincerely

David Haynes

Make sure you have Open GL turn off - see attached jpeg.

Also, make sure you have the latest drivers from the video card. Check in the REVIT - Hardware section to see if anyone else has had problems with the card. Generally REVIT has some problems with some high-end cards.

Hope this helps.

Go one step further and turn off hardware accelleration in your windows display properties. See the hardware section of this forum for graphics cards that don't work/do work with revit.

We went through this a few months ago with you:

What a drag that you're having such a hard time with this.

Is this new hardware since last time? Please provide a list of hardware (video card, motherboard, hard drives, etc.). Are you still using trial version, or did you buy it? Does this happen on all your projects or just one specific one?

Tanks for response. You are right, but this one is a brand new from A to Z Hardwares.
this is new configuration for my computer However I just disconnect my AT video card PIC
E X16,RADON 850 XT, 256 MB because of so many crashes with Revit, this one was screwing up 100% my system at the point even windows would not running.
Right now this is on board Intel video card.

About Acceleration setting: I have brought all these to level two of trouble shouting setting with unable write combining

Revit version is licensed and I have purchased it.
Autocad Revit series 8.1

It is happening with all projects

What version of the BIOS do you have? There have been a ton of BIOS updates for the 945G motherboard... do you have the latest one (I believe it's 3231 which was released just a few days ago, but you'll have double check)?

If it doesn't crash when running off the integrated Intel graphics, than it's almost certainly your ATI X850 video card. Are you using the latest ATI drivers (I believe 5.11)? If it's the video card, you'll need to return it. If you're going the ATI route, Wes has recommended the ATI FireGL V3100.

I understand your computer cost a lot of money, but there's nothing about your system that is particularly "high-end" from the looks of it. There are a lot of video cards that give Revit trouble. However, it's been a little more rare that they still don't work even with hardware acceleration and overlay planes turned off in Revit.

Thanks for your help I did not want to go to details...........I have another video card that cost me $4000 Nvidia.......But It happens the same thing . I am running on-board video card right now it is better but it does generally the same things....."just this evening 5 time crashes, Not bad ha!!!".
I have just having a thought it should have something to do with pointing device also.
For example just trying to edit a Profile in project and move lines around ,right the moment I clicked it crashed again............
Is it very strange that I have such problem..............really nobody else has this crashes............I start to believe in some sort of bad spirit things.............well........................ready to hear for comments.........
Yes I have all the latest bios and drivers for ati and so on when I asked about what do you mean,I thought that I have to use a special setting for BIOS
Sincerely
Afshin

Okay, before you go any further, check your RAM. A good piece of software to run will be Memtest 3.0 (you can download this off the net pretty easy. I will almost guarantee you have a dud stick of RAM. Revit is a hell of a lot more draining on your ram than your video cards. I look after 40 PC's all running Revit and have seen the problems you are experiencing a couple of times and each time it was due to bad RAM.

Use the test utility to identify the stick (or sticks) that are playing up and replace them. I think you may solve your problem.
