More Mouse button Customization

I have been reading about customization of mouse buttons. I cannot get any changes to work for my mouse settings in the cui.

Acad 2006, Win XP, Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical (5 button), loaded the latest software IntelliPoint 5.2

All that I want to be able to change are the 4th and 5th buttons, something simple like save or esc...

I think some of the mouse settings within its own software need to be changed to allow AutoCAD to customize the buttons but I do not know where to begin.

Thanks for any help, I know that most of the lucky one's are at AU, I went last year but was not able to make this year maybe next year.

Thanks Mike, I now have reverted back to IntelliPoint 4.1, and I have tried to read the steps involved for setting up my mouse but I am lost. What is the first step that I need to take? I get so lost with customization, are there some white papers for dummies on this topic?
