patterns in split topos

I have a site with some hilly topography, so I need to show the topo, I then split the topo surface so I could have driveways on said topo. Now when I'm looking at any of my elevations (see thumbnail), I see the outline of the area I cut. Is there anyway to keep the surface with the asphalt material, but have the cuts into the topo show the earth patterning? I don't really want to draw the individual members of ramp 'paving' to replace the surface cut... any other pointers?

Ya, isn't that a pain....

unfortunately, these are some of the things that make the site tools so inadequate currently.

You can have 2 copies of the topo in different worksets and display them according to the view

You can also put filled regions over the top to mask them.

You could also edit the material so that the section display for asphalt and earth have the same pattern in section...
