View Full Version : field text prints as #

I've posted this problem a while back - but can't find it now. I haven't solved the problem yet. The problem is: Some field text ends up printing as '#' instead of the text. I have section arrow callout blocks that have field text. One field for a letter designation and one for the drawing number. The fields always display correctly on screen..and in the plot preview. But once plotted, the text is replaced with #. This is true for both of our plotters. I've had this problem for the last year, and I'm having enough trouble getting people on board using fields without this happening. I end up having to replace the field with plain text many times.

The font is arial narrow. The section mark is being x-refed in and plotted through a viewport if that would make a difference.

Has anyone seen this or know why this is happening?

Thanks,

Jason

The problem may be in xreffing the section mark in. You will probably have to insert the section mark in as a block.

Hi

Are you referring to this thread ( Current Sheet Set Custom (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=19280) ) ?

Does the following thread help...

vportscale publishes "######" (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=26768)

Have a good one, Mike

An update to my previous post - as this issue has been happening for 2 years now.

When I use the publish command to 'batch plot' drawings to our printer and plotter, some of the field text in the model space of the drawing prints as ##. Sometimes it prints fine, sometimes not. I have checked the FieldEval and _.UpdateField settings.
The field text is not in an x-ref, it is in the m.s. of the sheet. However, when I print the same sheet, using the same page setup as selected in the publish dialog box, it prints fine. I've tried different printer drivers, but the problem seems to be related to the publish command somehow. Has anyone come accross this?

Thanks,

Jason

This doesn't answer your question, but it's on the same track. Fieldeval set as 4, means that the fields are updated prior to plotting. Would this include updating prior to publishing or not, as there is no option for this? Either way, no matter what my Fieldeval setting, I still have the same problem using publish. I ended up having to move all fields from model space to paper space, and then they published fine. It was a big time taker when I was already late getting 100 drawings out!

If using AutoCAD 2007 have you installed Service Pack 1?

ID: TS1060181 - FIELDEVAL variable reset after publishing (http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS1060181)

You may want to update to service pack 2 for 2007, it was just released yesterday, that way you would be completely current. There are also some issues with fields there were fixed with this service pack.
