I'm trying to place a decal and everytime I hit the button I get a recoverable error. Has anyone else had this problem or know a way to fix it? Just hitting the button triggers the error and it happens on multiple computers.

Thanks for any help! (I'm using 8.1)

Well, I copied the object to a new model file and placed the logos on the object in the new file then copied the object back to the original file and the logos copied back with it just fine. Go figure why the original file won't let me place the logo in it. I guess the file is corrupted somehow but everything else seems to be working fine say for the logo button.

What kind of file is it? I believe Decals have to be Bitmaps (or J-Pegs I don't exactly rember). There are some funny rules like a material can either be a bmap or jpeg, but a background image can't be a bitmap, decals have to be bitmaps I think. wait let me open a file and check. Yep it looks like bitmaps. I have gotten errors and crashes when a format other than bitmap is used. If they are bitmaps, they you need to contact the factory and may have a unique error or bug whicch they can fix for you.

I am using Revit 9.1 and have found in several files that merely activating the Decal Command crashes Revit with a "Fatal Error" message. It doesn't happen to every file I've tried, but a few. I have no idea how to fix it. A simple purge/restart did not solve the issue. On each crash I have sent a report to Autodesk.

If anyone can offer suggestions, I'm all ears!

I have not had any errors using jpgs or bitmaps. Maybe it is the file size. Maybe it is if there are any "invisible" or "see through" areas in the image.

I have tried a lot of things to GET it to crash (turn the file read-only, change the file extension from .jpg to .jpeg, ect.) Could you elaborate a little more on the image files themselves. I don't think it is Revit causing this to happen, but the image is.

I too have had the problem with Revit Crashing when activating the DECAL command - not even at the point of selecting decal to place so not a problem with image type - any comments?

Have Audited project and another team member has purged every single item possible (not our office policy.....).
