I would like the ability to bend a part similar to how I can create a bend in a sheet metal part. Say I have something like in Pic1, a part made from standard tubing. This part was created using the Extrude feature. Later the engineer, program manager, or whom ever in charge will come back and say we need to change the design from a straight piece of tubing to one with a bend, Pic2. With the bend a deformation of the part would also be cool as you know when you bend something it tends to bulge or buckle some where.
I know I can add a couple of sketches and sweep a new feature for the bent portion (or start the part again from scratch) but it would be nice if there was a self-contained feature to add this type of modification to the part, similar to the bend or fold in a sheet metal part.
If any of you have worked with 3D Studio; there is a nifty modifier called Bend that allows you bend geometry. Just though I'd mention that.
Cheers,
Benjamin
