Different material for panels in windows

I was wondering if it is possible to change the material of different panels in a window object similar to how panels can be changed in the curtain wall object. Should I just use the curtain wall object for something like this?

You can't do it directly in the project unless the window family has been set up for it already. Otherwise, you just have to edit the family and set the materials of the panels as you want them.

If you don't want to edit the family, then yes, an inserted curtain wall is a good option.

Open the window family and add a materials parameter to each pane of class you would like control of, you can make it instance based or by type.
