Is there a function key that let you turn off snapping ??...
Sometimes, Revit just absolutely won't let me do what I want...
(and then I learnt to use the alignment tool (and tab selection))

settings>snaps>snaps off check box

OR

temporarily turn them off with SO key-in. (SO default OOTB)

other snap settings are key-ins, too:

SE Snap End
SI Snap Int
SC Snap Center

etc.

SO is the shortcut to turn off snapping, if you desire it to be a function key modify your KeyboardShortcuts.txt from "SO" snapcode:"snaps off"
to
F9 snapcode:"snaps off"
note no quotes around the function key number
