I think Revit needs a schematic view of the selected objects that you can turn off it's relationship, or just disconnect a few...
For now, sometimes, a complex groups of objects that you selected and wants to paste to another location, I found Revit extremely slow in those operation, and the result is NOT worth the time I was waiting for, because most object would be spread right across the screen after the paste (if the object is dependent of another object, eg. bathroom sink to wall)
Enable to resolve those problem I have resulted to use 2D symbols of those objects (sink for example) that I drafted myself as a group to be able to make Revit paste/array properly in a large group of room layout between multiple levels, and to also make Revit work faster. But this is kinda defeat the purpose of using Revit in the first place.....(it is like back to drafting in AutoCAD LOL)
