Can someone tell me where I can find the weld symbols that are now included with version 6.1? I'm trying to create weld symbols for use in a section and/or detail view.

Plate and weld symbols are included in shipped structural column families. They can be turned on and off as instance parameters of individual columns. The symbols are visible only in elevations and cuts parallel to the main axis of the column

Using the following link, navigate to the 6.0 subscription folder, then down to Structural, then to Symbols.

I was hoping there was something with a lot more detail and information... like showing different types of welds (fillet, flare, bevel, etc.) along with supplementary information (field weld, weld all around, spacer, etc.). Anyone else having this problem or needing to show this information?

I assume you would have some generic details showing these things and then use a fairly detailed tag type that would define the information you required.

What I'm really looking for is something that allows for different weld symbols to be inserted on details. The attached image shows what we currently have available through Softdesk/Autocad software. This is an essential item for correctly showing structural connections with Revit.

Here are some I made...

I have been playing around with one in R6.1 that uses the new visibility options but it is far from complete. I'll post it so you can see how it works and use it if you would like. It will only work in 6.1. We have been using a generic tag and hand drawing the proper weld symbol. When we switch to 6.1 we will have this available.

We know that it is a big piece missing to complete the structural detailing in Revit.
It will come at some point...

I just love it when the factory chimes in with these little teaser hints
I'm not a structural guy but I'm glad to hear everyone is working so hard at all the bits so everyone can be happy :D

I believe that my weld symbols could actually be made with fewer families and more intelligently by using nested symbols and visibility parameters...I just haven't had time to play with it yet!

I played around with the fillet weld type that was posted because it didn't work for me, and now I can at least get by. Attached are my results. As I use it more it will get cleaned up further. One thing that helped was adding an invisible line below the symbol so that a leader (which will originate from the center of the symbol) will line up at the right spot.

How could one use a yes/no parameter to effect whether a text label is displayed or not? For now, if there is not a bead on the applicable side I put a ".", which is slightly obnoxious.
