View Full Version : Dimensions on Linked Files

I’ve been having a problem with dimensioning the plan in revit. It works until I update (reload) the dwg file through “manage links”. At that point I get “Error-cannot be ignored. One or more dimension references are or have become invalid.” The only way to continue reload is to dump the revit dimension strings. Oddly, a couple dimensions remain and I don’t know why. I haven’t figured out what makes them different from the other dim strings. This purging of the dimensions doesn’t happen every time but I’m wary of getting deep into the process and having the program dump all my dimensions. Any ideas?

Thank you!

Are the problem dimensions from point to point or line to point? I've found that unless the dims are linear between two parallel lines Revit somehow loses track of the point.

You can't dimension to linked dwg files/or rvt files and expect the dims to stay if the lines in the dwg are moved or deleted. We learned this the hardway. I think there has been some improvement, but if just one item in the string has been deleted, the whole string will have to be deleted.
