Exporting with shared coords and crop regions doesn't work properly, and get a big thumbs down. Here's how I think it should behave; perhaps somebody can correct my desires...

- If a project uses shared coordinates, exporting with shared coordinates activated in the export options should "just work".
- The exported file should show the model elements as well as the annotations, and the origin should be based on the shared coordinates.
- The same should be true if the view has a crop region. The dwg file should look like the Revit view (clip model elements at the crop region, extend grids, etc. beyond the crop region as needed.
- When exporting a sheet to multiple dwg files, each "base" file should have the correct origin based on shared coordinates (where applicable, i.e. plan views). The base files should be the same whether exported with a sheet or alone as a view. (i.e. clip the model at the crop region, extend the annotations as needed). Perhaps xclip is more appropriate in this case.
- The same basic idea should hold when exporting a sheet to a single drawing file.

As it sits right now (December build), this is what happens when exporting with shared coordinates:
- Export a view with no crop region, and everything is A-OK. The origin is based on the shared coords, and everything gets exported.
- Export a view with a crop region, and only annotations are exported. The origin is in the correct place, though (based on shared coords).
- Export a sheet with plan view with a crop region, and the model elements are exported for the base view, but the modelspace origin is based on internal project coordinates. This is wrong, I think. The same is true regardless of the state of the"Export each view or sheet as a single file" option.

Li'l help, please!

sounds like you need to send your files in to support.

I don't think so (but I will if anyone at the factory asks)... The issue is reproducible from scratch. Create simple building and site files, link them together and share coordinates, and try exporting with the various scenarios.

If you file a support request, it will get processed. Just posting here doesn't get things fixed necessarily. So any reproducible bug is best sent directly to support.

I've already filed the issue of crop regions preventing model elements from being exported. Wouldn't hurt to have someone else followup with support.

Gotcha. Thanks!

A follow up from Support:

I have heard back from development. This behavior is going to be addressed on a future release. A possible workaround for now is to disable the crop region.

The only thing exporting is the grids and sections. Its top of my list for sorting, especially on larger multi-building sites where a common 'UCS' is used.

I have several support request in to support currently regarding several of the same issues. I did get some what of a response back that most of the issues list are corrected in 9.0, however i am still in a very poor position currently trying to get work done.

I also lose all of my linked autocad files when exporting to autocad....it sure is a cluster!

Do you mean that the linked data doesn't export, or that the export overwrites existing linked files incorrectly, or something else? I'm afraid I can't help, but I just want to know what to watch out for...

Tim,

Yes we are loosing AutoCAD linked file data when we export. I still have not received a response back from support yet. It very possibly could be something on our end.
