I want to create a joist arrow that is flexible on each
placement. It would have a 45 degree angle lines (5/32
long) arrow coming off the end point of each end of the
joist arrow line.

I would be able to click on one end of a wall and click
on the other end of the wall. It would be even cooler
if text could be associated with the joist arrow, but if
not that would be ok.

I have attached a copy of a plan that within it shows
three or more joist arrows within it of varying sizes
so you can see what I am trying to achieve graphically.

I saw some joist arrows w/ text on Revitcity.com. Check it out in annotations I think.

I went to Revit City and downloaded one of the joist notes.

I was revising the arrowhead and it led me to research
arrowheads which led to leaders and dimensions and then
it hit me

Why not create a dimension style called joist arrow
which has text set at 1/256 and 1/8" above dimension
line and set the text to be transparent. The weight of the
line and tick marks are set @ 4.

Create a new arrowhead style @ 5/32" length and while I want
a 45 degree angle on the arrowhead, the system only
recognized it as 45 degree lines if I told it to give me
a 90 degree angle.

I then create a joist note at 5/32" text that is opaque

Wallah, a parametric joist arrow head line that in two steps
gives me what I want.

It would be cool if Revit allowed me to create a dimension
style that I could have inserted text into it. Then it would
have been a one step deal.

One thing I forgot to add in the above, was I needed to set
extensions to the dimension style to 0. Otherwise you
get lines extending beyond the arrowheads.
