How is this partial surface pattern done?

This is a snapshot of the Library sample that comes with the Revit CD.
How did they get the stone pattern to only partially cover the wall?

Henry,

You can create partial wall surface patterns by using filled region. Although there could some other trick.

I would thick that you could split the wall surface and paint the section you want with a material that has nothing assigned to it. (ex. a material that is solid white.)
