How do I control element visibility?

I have a site plan which shows the roof plan, how do i show the toilet block dotted? Similarly, if i have trees indicated on the site plan, can i turn it off in gr.plan & elevations?

Take a look at View/Visibilty settings in the help files or just type VV and play around with the resultant dialog that emerges.
