Transfer Titleblock

i am trying to convert/transfer our autocad titleblock into revit. i start with the 30x42 titleblock template in revit ant then try to insert the .dwg file as a reference, but no file shows up. does anybody know what i am doing wrong?

have you zoomed out to see if your title block is way out in space? Make sure you acad title block is true size, ie really 30 X 42 and its 0,0,0 is the lower right corner and it should come right in usings, file>import/link> You will probably want to spend the time to recreate it as revit objects so just use it as an underlay and trace over it or explode it and change the lines to revit lines, then delete the dwg layers and object styles(found under settings/object styles/imports).

i tried zoom fit and checked the insertion point for the cad drawing 0,0,0 and it is a 30x42 but still no background...........cant figure out what i am doing wrong....can it be a setting in the template?

Try using "Manually place " with cursor at centre to see what is going on.

make sure dwgs are turned on under view visibility too.

If thats not it i really don't know, you could post the dwg and I'll be happy to see if it inserts. YOu could try checking current view only on the import,

thanks for the replies.....but still not able to get the dwg file imported into the titleblock template for revit.....im posting the cad file to see if maybe you have any luck......i think it might be the cad file.........it was created in autocad 2006....

it is an ARX error causing the problem. (were you using ADT??)

here is the fixed file, I had to w block out the border to loose the arx error that it was causing. you will need to reset the line weights but at least it is in there for you. hope this helps have a happy new year

thanks for the fix........fyi it was originally created in adt 3.3 and then saved up to acad 2006..........dam adt.......good going revit

ha ha I knew it. I hate those darn ADT ARX errors they get you all the time. I knew the fix because I ran into the same problems over and over, glad I could help. good luck and have a happy new year.
