But they already ARE non-editable.????

Anybody know what this seemingly non-sensicle statement means?

I'm just a single user. I've been trying to use worksets to hide walls & such when I want to, since they cannot be put into a category (for some ungodly reason). Yeh, I'm already familiar with Phasing & Design Options.

I also use worksets as a single user and get the same message - the phrasing doesn't make much sense does it? I believe this message happens when there have been changes made to a workset. What I do is close the workset dialogue box and Save to Central. Then I can go back and I can close the particular workset.

Yeah. I do too. I was hoping there was another method that avoided that time-consuming procedure, but I guess there isn't. Thanks, Henry.

I admit I'm not the brightest bulb on the circuit. I didn't realize that, like Design Options, when you use worksets, the Visibility Dialoge adds a tab for Worksets, wherein I can turn the workset visibility off.

You can't close a workset if you have changed any elements in it or if you have added any new elements to it. (In the latter case you won't necessarily be listed as a borrower.) The message could be clearer. As was suggested above, the thing to do is save to central.

In any case, closing worksets is normally done as a temporary change to improve display performance. It affects all views in the model. You would normally open all worksets before printing. If you use worksets to make something invisible is some view in your deliverables you should use the Worksets tab in the Visibility/Graphics dialog for that view.
