Opening in a roof created in a past phase

Is it possible to create an opening (dormer) in a roof that was created in a past phase ?

The roof was created in the "existing" phase
I create the opening in a view displaying "new construction" phase.
In the properties, the opening have the same phase as the roof. And no possibity to change the phase here because it's grayed.

I use a workaround by copying the entire roof.

Do you know another way ?

If you make up a roof based generic family, that just cuts an opening, it'll follow phasing properly when it cuts a roof created in a previous phase.

When you go back to a view in the previos phase, the hole will not show.

Attached is a rectangular opeing family.

Edit: And you can also do a roof based in-place family, & use a void cut to cut the roof, which also follows phasing properly.
