I want to insert my xrefs permanently but they will not stay inserted. I've reloaded them, re-saved the file path and nothing seems to work. How do I keep them in the drawing? The drawings reside on my hard drive and all of them are loaded every time I open the drawing except for one and that one loads sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I'm running 2004 Mechanical, sp3. Sorry i can't get a legible screen shot.

I want to insert my xrefs permanently but they will not stay inserted. I've reloaded them, re-saved the file path and nothing seems to work. How do I keep them in the drawing?not sure if it matters, but, are the main file, and the referenced file residing in the same general location? like on the same server or your hard drive? also, what version of acad are you using? (I don't know, just trying to provide more info for the smart people who will eventually read this thread)
when you pull up the xref manager, are they saying not found? or are they not showing up there at all? maybe a screen-shot of your reference manager would help?

Hi
Within the Xref Manager dialog box, what is in the "Status" column next to the Xref that is not loading.
Below comes directly from the AutoCAD Online Help file [F1]...
Status
Shows whether the xref is loaded, unloaded, unreferenced, not found, unresolved, orphaned, or marked for unloading or reloading.
* Loaded: Currently attached to the drawing.
* Unloaded: Marked to be unloaded from the drawing once the Xref Manager is closed.
* Unreferenced: Attached to the drawing but erased.
* Not Found: No longer exists in the valid search paths.
* Unresolved: Cannot be read by AutoCAD.
* Orphaned: Attached to another xref that is unreferenced, unresolved, or not found.Have a good one, Mike

Thanks for the response, I ran out of time to correct the problem so I approached it a different way to resolve the problem, I will read more about it in the book to see how to resolve it when my schedule slows down a little. The xrefs that would not bind were nested xrefs and overlays. Once again thanks for the responses. Oh and they were all loaded also.
