View Full Version : In-Place Family Sweeps

In certain instances, I find the need for a sweep where the profile remains perpendicular to the level below when the path slopes as opposed to remaining perpendicular to the sweep path. This is particularly important to me when doing certain types of wood trimwork, but I have yet to see an option for this. Have I missed something in the options in creating in-place family sweeps or is this a tool that maybe we need to have added to the wishlist??

An example might help us understand this more clearly.
You can use any profile in a sweep, as long as the profile remains constant ( ie no "lofting" tool ). I assume you could cut a section at the angle you want and trace that profile and then use it in the swept path you want ?

With sweeps, the profile is normal to the path. There's no option I know of to change that.
If your paths are straight, you could create a parametric profile who's dimensions would adjust by entering the angle of the path. Sucess would depend on the complexity of the profile...
