What are some of the third party products that are being developed or have been developed for Revit beside the "Highway" products. Seems kind of quiet out there. Is the API useable to create products?

The only one I can think of off hand is E-Specs. That has been out for a while and last I heard they were working further into making a 2 way street so if changes are made in the specs it could affect the building model. I will keep thinking and see if I can come up with anything else.

Danny Polkinhorn made a "find & replace text" tool that he posted somewhere on the forum. That's the only one I recall seeing offhand.

Check out the work done by Robobat. http://www.extensions4revit.com/n/e4r

A lot of their extensions are Structure specific, but they have many that will function in all of the Revit verticals.

Thanks for the Revitapps Blog! I will keep an eye on it.

We are doing a Revit User Group meeting on Revit applications, utilities, add-ons and extensions, so this will help.

Personally, I think the API certainly has some rooms to create product which target on Revit users, make the work easier and faster. However, it also need to consider the additional cost on those API on top of the cost of Revit platfrom. Also the stable techincal support when thing go wrong. In summary, I guess not much practice will really seriously consider buying 3rd party API from here and there, but if it from a single provider or source, then it could be a different story.

In this stage, more likely will happen is someone bring along an example to the boss, then the boss go and ask the BIM manager, "Can you do something like that?" or "Can you create an API with the functions like this?".
