Is there something which I cannot find which controls a system variable for layers? Here is the problem. I create a set of plans say plan and profiles for a road. Then I create a layer manager state (express tools) for it called "plan and profile". Now I work on another type of plan within the drawing, say a grade plan and create a new layer called "GP", and save a layer state called "Grade Plan". Now if I go back and restore the layer manager state "plan and Profile" the "GP" layer is on, even though I don't want it to be on. Is there a variable which tells all new layers to be set to "frozen" in previously created layer states. I know that it is practice to re-update the layer manager states, but when there is 10 or so layer states, and only one needs to show the newly created layer it would be nice for the new layers to default to frozen? Or am I asking too much?

Not that I am aware of ( which does not mean a lot ).

Have you looked at the _.VpLayer command ?

Have a good one, Mike

As soon as you get on 2006, you will have the option for turn off layers not defined in a layer state. This is referring to core AutoCAD "Layer States Manager", not the old ET command.

I'm working in ACAD 2006 and can not find this setting. Could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks
