If I have an ACAD drawing, where my objects in that drawing are aligned to real world co-ordinates (i.e. rotated off WCS in ACAD), and I import this into MAX, the elements are brought into MAX at the same angle at which they are drawn in ACAD.

Does anyone know how to import such objects so that the elements are automatically aligned vertically and horizontally, without having to rotate the ACAD drawing beforehand?

I don;t think that there is an automatic way to do it but it is easy to accomplish. make a point object in Autocad and put it on a seperate layer.....call it control point or something. Then when you import into MAX link everything to this point and then rotate that point object however many degrees necessary to align t correctly. You could also try .dwg linking.

That's currently the only way I know how, but because I work continuously between ACAD and MAX, it means having to rotate every time I insert new or edited work - a step I would rather not have to do...

Perhaps something for the wish list...?
