View Full Version : Automatic Scaling of blocks and devices

I'm having problems with the fact that blocks and devices automatically scale in drawings.

For example:
I have a lighting construct at a scale of 1/8" = 1'. My switches all come in fine because they auto scale.

I create a 1/8 scale View dwg and drop the construct in. Everything is still fine because my View is set to the same scale as my Construct. So far so good.

My Sheet is set up at a scale of 1=1. Why shouldn't it be? It's just a "picture" to plot. When I drop the View in, all of my switches are tiny because they auto scale to 1.

I could see if I was bringing the switches directly into the Sheet, but they are part of a Construct which is referenced into a View.

Now, I know that the simple solution is to change the Dwg Scale of my Sheet to match the View and Construct, however, that is only a viable solution if I'm dealing with one View at one scale. What do I do when I have a 1/4 scale and a 1/8 scale View in the same sheet? I've seen posts on this before but they were pretty old so I don't know if anyone has found a solution.

Perhaps I just need to put my 2cents in on the Wish List. Automatic Scaling is great, but the fact that it works through 2 levels of x-refs needs to be fixed.
