If you have 2 versions of Revit installed on the same machine, how do you make a Revit file open the latest version by defualt if you click on the file in an explorer window?

For some reason mine will open 8.1 by default, but if my co-worker clicks on any Revit file, no matter what version it's in, it will default to version 8. Ideas? We tried to right-click the file and go to Open With, then navigated to Revit.exe in the 8.1 folder, and checked the box to always use that program for that file type. However even after that, it was still defaulting to Revit 8.

Hi Patricks,

I had the same problem here too. I too tired to change it through windows explorer but in the end it did not work. I believe this has something to do with Windows registry file but I am not 100% certain of that.

In the end, I uninstalled Revit Building 8.0 and moved on to Revit Building 8.1 despite the bugs in it.

If you do figure it out, please let me know.

thanks in advance,
