Hello everybody,

I have just found this forum, and hope you can help me out. I have modelled a component in Autocad 2000i in 3D solid, and want to show it shaded or rendered as a clear component. How can I do this?

The actual item is machined from clear acrylic so I need the model to be as real as possible, to demonstrate the proper use of the component to operators/managers.

Can anyone give me a simple explanation in how to achieve this?

Paul.

Please note I have moved this thread from the AutoCAD Mechanical forum to the AutoCAD 3D forum, as I believe it to be better served here.

To answer the question - Render the model after applying the "Glass" material.
The quickest way to get there is to type RMAT then click the Materials Library button. Scroll down, pick the material and click Import. Assign (Attach) the material to your object or Bylayer or Bycolour (ACI).
You can edit any material and then save to a new library of your own.

Have fun.
