Diff. Cut pattern for topo?

I have two different toposurfaces in my project: New and Existing. I've tried to change the cut pattern on the New toposurface to a diagonal line (to show the amount of new fill required); however, no matter what I change the cut pattern to, it always comes up as the Earth cut pattern.

Can someone help me with this?

One ( if not the only ) possible solution is to add a filled region poche to define the new fill area.

You could turn off the site poche completely first, than add the filled region, to make it read more clearly in the drawing.
