I just figured this out after I had joists poking through my walls...
When structural framing is attached to a wall, the location line of the wall determines the endpoing of the structural framing.
Thus, when you have say a metal bar joist bearing on a cmu wall, set your wall location line to be centerline and then you will show the proper amount of bearing for the joist.
