I'm creating a door frame type legend, and I have two different hollow metal frames. One is 2" wide all around that wraps around a metal stud wall. The other is a butt-frame for masonry openings, with a 4" head. I always use the same door family for both, and I have an instance parameter for the frame head height.

So when I place the elevation of that door type in the legend view, it comes in with the 4" head. What do I do if I want to change the instance property of the head height to make it display a 2" head?

haha welcome to hell. I found that Revit remembers which option you placed in the set last. I had to place a dummy door with the next set of options in the plan then put it in the legend then delete the dummy door in the plan. I know it sounds screwy:screwy: but it worked for me. Hope this works for you also

Patricks,

What I have done with my doors is create frame types and panel types and nest them together as needed. When I need to create a door type legend, I load the frame types into the project. This does two things; it allows me to have my most typical frame types appear in my list to place legend components and I do not need to make placeholders in plan. Further, I generated a type catalog of the most typical door widths, door heights, and frame thicknesses we encounter. Now when I load my frame types, I have a list to choose from, including a 2" head versus a 4" head.

It took me a while and a lot of forum searching to figure this out, and granted there may be better solutions out there, but this method has served us well.

Happy Revit-ing
