Where are thumbnails stored?

I was just wondering where the thumbnails for Revit are stored? and can I access them?

They are part of the file itself.

You can control the preview under File->Save As->Options.

What you could do is get a programme called Printkey and take screen capture of the family and save it as you want it. With Printkey you can choose the portion of the screen that you want to view in the jpg and then save it.

Don't even need printkey - Revit has File->Export-Image
