Color fill button doesn't work

I'm working on a project with a couple of area schemes, and in one of them, I can't get a color fill happening. I hit the color fill button and nothing happens?

What gives? Anyone else have this problem before and know of a solution before I send the file off to support to be fixed?

Sadly no; this is the error I get from the journal file:

I even e-mailed Paul Licameli but he just says I have to send in the file to support.

That's freaking wierd. Called for him by name? I have to search my journal files for "cosmickingpin is an a$$" I guess he better fix it. How many schemes are we talking?
