Is it possible to create my own hatch inside Revit? And if so how would I do so. I know I can import new ones and modify them but I need a shake type hatch and can't find what I need so I thought I would create my own if possible

no, only various crosshatch and parallel patterns can be created in revit. You need something that works with autocad to create your hatch patterns.

We bought this program and it works great, someone recommended it here a while back.

create your hatch pattern then load it in Revit.

devin, if you post an image of the shakes / pattern you need, someone here might have something close for you to add to your Revit.pat file..

This is a great program to create hatchs if you have autocad http://www.cadopolis.com/autocad_addons/GlobalCAD_Hatch-Manager.shtml

It's basicly a cedar shake but at the end it's a half round instead of squared off.

here is a lisp file that i download from cadalyst website. They have a webpage (http://management.cadalyst.com/cadman/article/articleList.jsp?categoryId=6735) that contains tip from readers, some of them being lisp files.

The way that the file works is that you draw a 1x1 box and sketch your pattern in it. the program then converts that into a hatch pattern file. from there is understand that you can copy the coding from the acad *.pat file and into REVITs pattern file.

Been awhile since i last used this lisp, but it works really well in acad, so i guess if the pattern works there, it should come over to REVIT fairly well.

Devin,

Look at THESE (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=16789&highlight=hatch)and see if any are what you need. (about the fourth response down - you'll need to create a model pattern with them)
