Matt,
I looked at the .pdf's and I don't understand what you want. Perhaps you can post an image of the roof plan with some 2d linework and arrows to indicate how it is supposed to be. Then we can help you achieve that.

Sorry about thought I didnt explain myself at all very well. I showed a roof plan and a section. The problem I'm having is that if you look at my section I got roof going thru my roofs - I tried to join them - will not work- I just think im doing something wrong. Any thoughts? Matt
I also added a zip file of just the roof - if that helps
Thanks for any help.

Without getting too involved, did you try modeling a void (INPLACE FAMILY) ( to match the volume of your big roof), then cutting the excess roofs with it? Another thing is to draw the foot print of the roof to match the cut back on the adjoining pitch, to form asort of a triangle shape.
Edit: tried opening your file, what version are you using?

tried opening your file, what version are you using?cosmic - you may be having this (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=25102) problem that makes Revit want to open with 8.0 even if 8.1 is installed.
Matt - Is this what you're looking for? I've found that in many cases it's easier for me to cut the roofs manually than to rely on Revit's automatic joining. If this is what you're after, it involved 5 minutes of "joining geometry" between the roofs that touch each other, then placing ref planes on the joint line, then manually editing the roof perimeters to match...
Hope it helps...

You can do a couple things to fix these.
1. Use the opening tool, select the roof you want to cut back, and draw a shape following the valley that will remove the portion of the roof you don't want.
2. modify the roof sketch to follow the valley lines.

Thanks!!
Solomon - That looks perfect.
When you say "cut" do you mean split?
and did you do anything that sbrown sugguested?

When you say "cut" do you mean split?Sorry for not being clearer. No, I didn't split the roof - I edited the roof sketch lines in each of the roofs.
did you do anything that sbrown sugguested?Yes, I did Scott's suggestion #2, modifying the roof sketch to follow the lines of where the roofs join. Edit the roofs I placed there and you'll get an idea of what I'm talking about.
Like I said, it's manual (& un-Revit-like) - but I find it's easier to spend 5 minutes making a manual join than half an hour making it automatic...
Cheers,
Solomon
