It's worth restating over again and over again...Revit can let you do calculations on input...like width parameters in a dialog box or in a dimension value or as you place a wall you can fill in a value that is a calculation.

Oh really you say? Well how about a couple examples?

A) You want to copy a wall and place it 3 ft away from the original and you are working in metric but you are an amurican who isn't comfortable with Mmmmetric yet...select your wall, pick your first point, then type =36*25.4 then press the Enter key. Revit will "do the math" and copy your wall the appropriate distance.

B) You have an object located in the center of a room and you move an outside wall and now the object isn't centered anymore. Place a string across the side walls and the object, lock the center string dim and then use the following formula for the side space...=(Overall dim - center dim)/2 voila!! See image >

thanks for the tip, that's something I hated about AutoCAD because you needed to use the transparent calc ('calc).
