The problem is that when my crosshairs are at "rest", not in a command, they seem to be blinking or flashing. I have tried refresh rate on the monitor and that does not make a difference, shutting down and rebooting does not make a difference. It is not a huge problem but it is a bit annoying.
if anyone has a fix or other ideas, I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Bill in Portland

Thank you for your help and suggestions but after getting the service pack 1 for ADT 2006 and updating my video driver, the crosshairs are still blinking.
The monitor is an LCD (Dell 19" Ultra flat?), and the video card is a ATI Fire GL3100.
Does this help in finding a solution?

Try setting the sys var WHIPTHREAD to 0 (zero).

If you have your refedit toolbar loaded, close it. Give that a try.

I believe the whipthread only affects multi-processor systems.

Does the 'blinking cursor' only occur in autocad or in other programmes as well?
Have you tried changing your mouse and or mouse drivers.

I had a flag animation rinning in the lower right hand corner of my screen.
Probably not your issue, but it did make my crosshairs blink.

I believe the whipthread only affects multi-processor systems. It affects both. I work with one client who runs single processor machines & every now & then their screen graphics go all wacky & it's due to whipthread being active. When set to 0 it is turned off & it doesn't try & look for a second processor to do processor intensive things. This is something autodesk support put me onto & it's worked almost everytime.

Sorry it so long for me to respond, but thank you to 'tatriest', I did have the refedit toolbar loaded, and when I closed it, the crosshairs stopped blinking. Thank you to everyone that responded. :)
