What is the best way to model the sill plate on a foundation wall. What I have done so far is add a sweep profile to the top of my foundation wall. But I don't like the way this intersects with my exterior stud wall. When set the base of my stud wall to the top of the sill, the model is incorrect becuase the exterior sheathing and clap boards of my stud wall should extend to the foundation wall covering the sill plate.
Also, when I add the floor in, I am asked if I want to cut out the wall geometry where the floor and wall intersect, and I do. But how can I accomplish that after the fact.

I have used a short wall with success. I think it is the best way of modeling the sill plate with the tools that we have. I also model the rim board with a wall element.
Same here. Tried the sweeps but have gone on to using short walls as well.

I use the wall tool also. You can extend wall layers (sheating, siding, etc) beyond the wall plate by editing the wall properties (within the wall editor), going to the section view, zoom in on the bottom (or top) of the wall and unlocking the paddlocks on the layers you want to extend. Then in the wall properties, set the wall extension distance parameters accordingly.
For those in this discussion that use a short wall have you tried stacking the sill and the rim with the foundation wall? I've experimeted with it but I'm wondering if there are any issues with stacked walls that make them difficult to use (for instance joining at corners and intersections).
Also, how do you do framing plans? Is your cut plane through the rim joist (wall) and let the rim show as it would with the plate and foundation wall below? And then use symbolic lines for the joists? Or do you redraw a rim joist?
Thanks!

That worked great! I knew it had to be something simple.
However I just noticed a few new thing where the exterior wall and floor meet.
Floor issue: The floor assemblie is a 2x10 framing with plywood decking and a 3/4" hardwood finish. For some reason when I place the floor, it sets the top of the hardwood finish at my floor line instead of the top of the sheathing. I can fix this by setting the floor to be 3/4" offset from my level.
Wall / floor issue: When I drew my exterior wall I assigned the base of the wall to level #1. In theaory the base of the wall should now sit on top of the floor decking. But the wall trims away the floor decking and extends itself 1/2" down to the floor framing. Any ideas?

I can fix this by setting the floor to be 3/4" offset from my level.I model the subfloor with the sheating only and the hardwood as a separate floor vertically offset accordingly. Then you can offset in plan view the hardwood outline to the I.S. of your plates, as typically done in the field. Your method of vertically offsetting I believe will work also, not sure how exactly to join the wall to the floor and have the sill meet the subflr plywood and cut out the hardwood only. EDIT: If you make the plywood layer a structure element it will join correctly.

Any ideas?Check the wall properties to make sure they are not vertically offset, even though you use level #1 as your base it will still offset from there if the parameters call for it., Check the same with the Floor to make sure T.O. floor is at level 1 with no vertical offset.
