I'm trying to make a shaft wall that has a 2 1/2" Channel with 1 1/2" Batt Insulation and 1" Moisture Resistant Gyp.

The problem is the insulation and gyp would graphically show on top of the channel.

Do I leave the insulation out and make the channel 1 1/2"?

This same thing goes if I have a 6" stud, gyp both sides with batt insulation. Do I not show the batt as a component?

thanks,
crw

Normally, you would add your graphic detailing, insulation, channels etc in a detail view.
When you make a wall you can define the batt insulation in your wall type but don't give it any thickness, same with vapor barriers if you want to schedule the material otherwise leave it out and add it the details.

The only component category that allows a '0' thickness is a membrane layer so you can list the insulation as part of the assembly, if you need it in the description, but categorize it as a membrane layer. This is the approach I take and then add detail on callout views
