Existing wall and existing windows. Windows demo'd in the new construction phase.
When I insert new windows, the infilling piece of wall (from the demo'd windows) doesn't get cut.
Any thoughts???

I think this is a phase filter / graphic override problem.
You may have the filter set to "Show All".
Try setting the phase filter to either " Show Complete" or "Show Previous + New ".
If that doesn't fix it, check what your phase filter graphic override settings are.

Phase filter was set to show complete. I'm just installing the latest build. Perhaps that will fix it, and I'll give a whirl to the show previous + new.
Thanks B!

Same issue even with latest build installed and phase filter set to Previous + New.
Any other ideas?

I am having a similar issue with doors. I am inserting a door where it should cut existing and new wall both. It cuts the new wall, but not the existing.
Any ideas yet?
There used to be a "pick main host" button but I no longer see it.

I ran into this same problem also, Revit doesn't seem to realize it has to cut out the 'existing' stuff. Something quirky is that if you added furring and gyp over your existing wall it will cut that layer but still leaves the existing in place. The way i have been getting around this is to edit the wall profile to match what needs to happen and then add drafting lines as required to correct the graphics. Its not the cleanest way but I haven't found anything that works better yet. I hope this gets fixed soon.

Interesting. I had to quit that session of Revit because of some window drawing errors in another project. When I started the new session and loaded this project, the door now cuts the existing wall.
So if anyone else can try that and see if it changes.
Also I just realized I also changed my phase filter to "show all" before I closed the revit session. Just changing the phase filter alone did not do it. But could it be that after I changed the phase filter and re-loaded the project something "clicked" to make it work? But Revit seems to look at all phases even if they are not visible, so that does not make sense to me either.

Hmmm. now that I started playing with this it seems that Revit is recognizing the cut but the phase filters are controling the graphic representation. The 'show complete' and 'show prev + new' filters are showing correctly. I recommend a little trial and error changing the filters in various views (shading on in 3D shows pretty clearly whats happening) I don't think any of the 'out of the box' filters show exactly what I would like to see but we can tweak these to our own tastes under Settings>Phases>Phase Filters (and/or) Graphic Overrides tabs.
BTW I'm running 6.1 installed about a month and a half ago.
I have to get back to actual work but I'd be glad to try to answer any specific questions that come up.

I have got it, if you set the phase filter to NOT DISPLAYED for demo it is ok - but I think it is still a bug. This comes close to something I want - I want to be able to display demo stuff in any phase I like, not just the "next" one.....

I haven't checked lately, but a wall where a window is demo'd and replaced in the same location... sometimes the opening doesn't get cut properly. We had to delete the old window altogether and draft in the window locations -- but that was 5.1!

Insert a new window in the new phase entirely over the infil. Notice the window does not display over the infill wall.
But....
Insert a new window in the new phase such that it overlaps the infill and host walls. Notice this cuts the infill wall and the wall displays correctly. Slide the new window completely over the infill wall and it retains the correct display. Go figure.

This sounds like it may be related to this (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=20862&highlight=family+phase) issue I have raised.
Is this something that has become apparent in R 8.0 or has it been in oher versions as well?
Is anyone getting any error messages?
