I created a site model in revit from an imported instance (acad dwg) and now I am trying to regrade it from another imported instance set of contour lines from another acad dwg. The acad dwg that i am using to regrade, however, does not contain continuous contour lines...the civil drew new proposed contour lines only in certain areas he wanted to propose be regraded ,in reality, for parking and for building. So, i am trying to regrade an already built site model with an imported instance that does not have continuous contour lines. What is happening is when i attempt to regrade the site model, the imported instance pulls it the existing site model points in both a positive and negative z dimension, ultimately giving me a grand canyon...not exactly what i am looking for.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

You might consider bringing the second AutoCAD topo file in as an imported file and not try to convert it to a Revit topographical surface. Instead use the second topo file as a background to manually change those topographical contours of the first Revit topographical surfaces.

My thought was to blend the new topo with the old in AutoCAD, bringing only the new contours in that is. Then trim the old where the new cross so you end up with a new complete topo map of the site in dwg form. Then import and build a new topo...
Guess it comes down to where you want to do the work?

Will blending the old and new topo's in AutoCAD and importing and replacing the existing Topo in RVT provide for phasing to track land areas and volumes. I often use the old and new topo changes to dip lay the original (existing conditions) and track earth volumetric quantities for land balancing.
