offset glazing panels in a curtain wall.

I have created a panel as part of a curtain wall to represent a single-glazed, pivot hinged door. However, when I nominate the panel in the curtain wall that I wish to be this door, it offsets from the glazing line.

I have not created any parameters that would offset this door from the glazing line so it should come in on the glazing line... not past it.
I can't edit it to move it back into line...

Any suggestions?

Goto the properties of the panel in Families in your project browser, there you will find a default offset value.

I posted a bug to support last week. It concerns the centering of curtain wall panel families on the centerline of the curtain wall.

The long and short of it is that if the default reference plane is moved from its original position inside the template, the curtain wall panel will not be centered. You can test this by simply opening the template, moving the reference plane up a few feet and drawing a panel centered in plane around this reference plane. You'll find the panel offset the same distance when placed in the project. I discovered this by placing a reference plane on each side at different distances from the original and then applying and EQ. constraint between the three. So even if you don't think you've moved the plane - one of your constraints may have without you knowing it.

Making the reference plane the "Origin" and or naming it "Center Front/Back" have no effect. Of course getting the reference plane back to where it should be is difficult, especially if constraints have been applied. If you can determine how much the panel is off by, you could shift the ref. plane by that amount and hope that all your constraints remain intact.

The default offset parameter mentioned above is only available for system panels.

Your explanation was spot on.

In the process of creating reference planes of EQ offset to the 'Centre Front/Back' reference plane, I had moved that plane and that what seemed to be causing my glazing offset problems. Fortunately, I could measure the exact distance that it was offsetting in the exported drawing and make that correction in the specific family item.

I have now pinned the 'Centre Front/Back' reference plane. Just have to remember to make that one of the first things done when creating a curtain panel family item!!

This does seem to be a glitch that needs to be looked at in the family settings.

In my settings for dimensions, I have 'Area, Width, Height'... No offset.
In previous families, I have created an offset dimension from the grid (sliding doors, etc.) but not this time.
