How does one create a really wide graphic line in Revit.

To draw a path through a building for exit diagrams or just really bold graphic lines for concept plans?

You need to set a linewight to be as wide as you want the line to display on the plot. We use 16 to keep out of the way of others.
Then create a new line style call it Exit or something else descriptive and set the line weight to 16 (or which ever number you used).
Draw a new drafting line (view specific) or model line (all views) and your are done.

Or use a filled region in a detail family as a repeating detail.

The good thing about this technique is that you end up with nice square corners for the wide line...

I use these as symbols for fire walls. Works well.

I was under the impression that the rounded corners are nicer. Was I wrong? Or, do you prefer sometimes rounded, sometimes square?

Depends on the width of the line. Typically rounded for most normal lineweight. (Rapidograph pen set....)

You'll see in the atteched DWF that I've used the repeating detail tool to better represent fire walls....
