View Full Version : Not Plotting to Scale

I have told my boss(es) all along that Revit is sooo good, you can't trick its dimensions, it always prints to scale, shows the correct scale, etc....
Lately (since the 8.1 200 install?), Revit is not plotting to scale. Makes all my work look suspect and causes the boss to question revit.
It's off by just a wee bit, i.e. 84'-0" scales to 83'-0", just enough to be really annoying.
I went through Mr. McCauley's plotter/titleblock setup, checked my titleblock, plotted again with "plot centered" and "plot offset..." , still doesn't quite get the scale correct..
My boss is getting really antsy...........I am sweating more with each plot.....

I'd make sure Revit was printing at 100% and then check the printer settings. Maybe uninstalling the printer and reinstalling would get it back to normal.

Revit is printing at 100%.
Reinstalling the printer driver would be my last option I would think.

Does the same problem appear using other printer drivers? How about DWF to your plotter?

can you post the file, I'd love to see that, I've never seen revit print not to scale unless the fit to page choice is checked instead of zoom 100%. Or post a screen capture of your dimension reading 84', then your print settings. what printer are you printing to? I've seen the oce 9600's "scrunch" a drawing so you have to print to the 9600ps printer.

Okay, I think I have found the guilty culprit: a titleblock. I have attached the two titleblocks I have been using. The one labeled "2" is the one causing the mis-scaled plots. Plots with the original titleblock scale properly. I have no idea why.
Any thoughts?

I'll agree... I've NEVER run into the program not printing to scale unless the 'Fit to Page" option is checked. It's akin to (cough-cough) paper space and having the views there, then printing to 1:1 scale. it's a 'no brainer' and problems are due to either the driver or the printer itself.
Even if the titleblock is off a little... how would that affect the outcome? Unless it's interference with the printer drivers. I'll have to take a look at it.

Surely you're not calling my possessing cerebral matter into question?
You are no more perplexed than I. Yet I am looking at the evidence. And, no, I NEVER use the 'sclale to fit' or similar options in any cad program.
That's why think the titleblock is the problem: right after I posted my original question, I needed to plot out a floor plan of an older project that had the "old" titleblock on it, and it scales correctly.
Whatever, I now know that if I use the old titleblock, the problem goes away.
