View Full Version : hide viewport layer (or any other) in dwg export?

Hi All,

I haven't seen an obvious way to do this. we want to export to autocad with the viewport layer hidden or off. the translator text file does not seem to offer any syntax for doing this.

Am i missing something?

OK - And now a second question. I have tried editing the translator to put the wall poches on a separate layer (A-WALL-PATT instead of A-WALL-FULL) and have so far been unsuccessful.

The whole reason we bought Revit was to get away from layers...:)

Thanks,
Chris

First question: And that would be because you have no layer properties control (On/Off or Freeze/Thaw) in the export process from Autodesk Revit. When I export a Revit sheet view out to AutoCAD the viewport ends up a the A-ANNO-NPLT layer so it will not plot by default. what purpose would be served by turning it of or freezing is as well.

Second question:There is no separate layer for exporting wall cut hatch patterns set up in Revit and unfortunately you cannot create a sub-category in Revit to place cut hatch patterns on. So export the Revit sheet with views place on it. Then in AutoCAD open the sheet drawing which contains all of the sheet's model/drafting views as XREF', open the individual view DWG's and edit the cut hatch pattern layer assignment. No shorter process within Revit.

If you don't want to manually go in and set the anno nplt layer so that it doesn't plot, you can set the viewports to export to the defpoints layer. The defpoints layer never plots and you don't have to go into each drawing to set it to no plot.

Hi all,

The reason we wanted to turn off the viewports layers was because one of our users wanted to delete it from the drawings even though it does not print and since we are batch exporting he did not want to go one by one and it is not worth scripting in autocad or multibatch.

On the second point...Autodesk told me it is on the wishlist.

Thanks!
