Roof Opening

I have a gable roof attached to a larger roof, but when I come back to add a vertical cut opening in the main roof it has to detach the two roofs and won't rejoin. I attached a 3d view of the problem. You can see where the cut opening is, I'm quite frustrated on this. I have this problem all the time. Any solutions?

Okay Never mind. I found out what my problem was. And my doctor agrees :-).

My opening was going beyond where the Gable was hitting the main roof section. Which was causing the problem.
