This is alittle annoying. Using Autocad 2002 with osnaps on you could move the cursor fast over alot of lines etc without it just stopping at the first endpoint, intersection etc. Now with the new 2006 Autocad its like there is a super strong magnet that just stops everything.. Yes I use F3 all the time to toggle but sometimes I forget and when I realize it has stopped midstream it sucks. Makes the drafting more of a pain. Is there a setting somewhere to help me out?? The magnet toggle does not seem to help at all.
Thanks

Hi

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD Customization (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=118) forum to this one as I believe it would be better served here.

Thanks, Mike

Hi

First guess...

Look at the new "Visual Effects" settings and "Selection Preview" options.

Have a good one, Mike

Thanksjust read a tip on Lynn Allen's blog about increasing/decreasing the magnetic strength of osnaps (http://lynn.blogs.com/lynn_allens_blog/2006/02/controlling_the.html). hope that helps.

Thanks to those responding to my question. I guess the use of the word magnets wasn't quite right. The problem happens when I am zoomed out a bit and then do an inquiry, angles,NE something like that. Well lets just say when I forget to hit F3 and I am trying to move the cursor it hits an osnap object... end, int, node, whatever and sits there for what seems like forever, 2-4 seconds, releases and then finds another thing to check out before I know it, I cuss then I remember to hit F3 and I'm cruising again. Any suggestions thoughts appreciated.

Have you tried using the "Nearest" running Osnap along with the ones you usually use?
I find that having the nearest box checked stops the snaps from jumping around as I move over the drawing. You may also try changing the size of your pickbox to see if that weakens the magnet effect.
