How would you run r12? Wasn't r12 either Win3.1 or DOS based?

So do you still have a computer floating around running Win3.1?

Actually , if you are good with DOS you can get it to run in NT. (remember all those paths you have to set to get it to find everything?)

I used to run it (rel 12) in Win 98.

Couldn't run it in a Dos window. Had to hit the F8 key on start-up & go straight to a dos curser & screen.

Then with a batch file, load pharlap, a mouse driver, & the acad file paths.

Worked great.

Not sure if it can still be done with XP. Pharlap & windows never got along...

I can run 10-11-12 DOS under XP by using the windows compatibility thingy. All run very slow though. Cannot get any graphics hardware acceleration so regens are 30+ seconds. Funny because the R12 video card specs need a min of 2Mb of video ram and suggest 8Mb. I have 256 and still have to wait for regens.

So while I wait I draw an entire building in revit, create 25 sheets, plot the entire set and get a building permit.

Man productivity is great
