What must I do to execute a Journal file for testing?

You just drag the journal file onto your revit icon. Note that the file needs to be in the same state as it was when you opened your revit session. Once saves have occured the journal file will not work unless you have a backup you can rename and use for the starting point of the journal file.

Take it easy here, danger ahead. Notice there is no documentation on journal files? Try a search in the help, no hits. That's because it is not intended to use routinely.
Journal files can span several projects if you've opened several during one session of Revit.
Try this slowly and carefully. Close your session of Revit, start a new session using your stock template, add some stuff, edit something, add more stuff. Then close Revit. Now take a look at your journal file, the very last one. Note all the code within...represents every action you took while running Revit. If you examine the text at the very end you'll find a bit about saving and closing etc. If you delete the portion that does the save and close actions you can in effect recreate what you did before and leave you ready to continue in a new blank template.
Remember there's no roadmap because it's not really intended for our routine use. Revit Factory, feel free to step in here...
