View Full Version : Integral sweep (wall base) - visibility in plan???

When I add a sweep in the Type Properties of a wall (to make wall base), I am not finding any way to hide this element in plan. Is it possible?

I know that I can use the Modelling > Host Sweep to add wall base, it is just a tedious process and seems to slow the file down quite a bit.

As a work-around, I recently used a slab edge profile for a wall base, in order to wrap around both sides and the end of a "peninsular" wall. These have the ability to be turned off in plan.

That is a great idea! I typically place finish floors as independent objects from the subfloor / assembly. The finish floors respect the walls all around thus making them perfect to run the slab edge around.

I'll give that a whirl. Also, Scott (are you missing Colorado?) - I'll add it to the wishlist.

Ah, and now the ugly head is reared...

The floor slab edge theory falls down at doorways. The base, if modelled as a floor slab edge, runs across the door opening.

Bummer.

OK, another note to self...

The floor slab edge does work with a little handle dragging to miss the doors. So far, I think this is the most controllable way of getting wall base in.

Is turning off a wall speep used as a base still an unresolved issue? If I'm reading this post correctly it has been about a year and a half since this thread was started. Does anyone know if this has been addressed in 8.1?

No it hasn't been addressed as yet. Only host wall sweeps can be assigned sub-categories at this stage and turned off independently.

I've moved the bottom of the plan view to 7", which makes the walls' integrated bases disappear. I'm worried that this will affect something that I haven't anticipated. Will I get into trouble by doing this?

Otherwise, I have to take my nice sweeps out of the wall definition and put them in as separate objects :-(
